I have over 10 years of experience in the wonderful world of Physiotherapy - in that time I have worked in the NHS, for a children’s charity and within the private sector.

I am the Lead Physiotherapist for our Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) service here at Ability Therapies! Over the past 5 years, I have completed multiple training courses and gained the following qualifications in ‘Upper Limb’ rehabilitation:

I also have significant experience treating children with a wide range of abilities including Cerebral Palsy, Global Developmental Delay, Hemiplegia, Hydrocephalus, Hemispherectomy/Hemispherotomy, pre-and-post surgery (incl. Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy), chromosomal abnormalities and many more!

I feel incredibly lucky to meet such wonderful children and their families and absolutely love coming in to work every day to provide the best (and most fun of course) treatment I can!

My previous roles have included working in both the Charity and private sector, as well as the NHS. Alongside Ability Therapies, I share my time with Great Ormond Street Hospital, where I work within the Neurodisability team under the super speciality of their Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy service. My experience allows me to confidently and competently:

I feel very fortunate that I am able to transfer skills from GOSH to my role at Ability Therapies with the confidence, competence and experience of treating children both pre and post SDR, but also transference of skills for all post-surgical rehabilitation, assessment and intensive therapy. I pride myself on the ability to provide bespoke targeted and specific therapy intervention using a variety of therapy adjuncts and techniques, including; Spider Therapy, functional task training, gait re-education, and Neuromuscular electrical stimulation.

My vast experience has enabled me to treat children with an array of diagnoses including cerebral palsy (spastic diplegic, quadriplegic and hemiplegic), chromosomal abnormalities, rare genetic conditions, developmental delay and developmental co-ordination disorder as well as many others.

I have always been passionate about the importance of movement and exercise to promote long term participation and independence; inclusive of all abilities. This has been the driver behind my career in the last decade, and so I feel incredibly privileged to work with so many amazing little heroes on a daily basis. At Ability Therapies we believe that EVERY child is ABLE and so I am proud to work with a team whose focus is maximise each individual’s potential.

I have been lucky enough to have worked alongside both Kirsty and Mel for a number of years, where we have forged a strong working relationship, and I have gained a in-depth understanding of how I can optimise my role in order to maximise every therapy session for both the child and therapist.

I love working with the huge variety of children and families we see at Ability Therapies. As a result, I have been inspired to just start an apprenticeship at the University of East London to study Physiotherapy. I hope this will help me to further develop my knowledge and skills to help many more children in the future.

I recently graduated from the University of East Anglia with a degree in physiotherapy, and I'm so excited to have been given the opportunity to work with the team at Ability Therapies. From early on in my studies, I knew I wanted to work with children, and help make a positive impact on their lives and I feel incredibly lucky to be starting my career in such a supportive and inspiring environment.

I'm passionate about helping children reach their full potential, and I'm looking forward to continue developing my skills from the experienced team here while building strong relationships with the children and families. I can't wait to meeting you!

During my initial training as a physiotherapist, I was lucky enough to experience a wide variety of placements spanning, paediatrics, respiratory, neuro, stroke rehab, and musculoskeletal.
My very first placement, many moons ago, was right here with Ability Therapies! As a swim teacher too, this felt like the perfect setting to combine my physiotherapy skills with my passion for helping children maximise their abilities.

A real highlight for me has been the hydrotherapy sessions as well as CIMT. Both of which, I first experienced during my initial placement here.
During my training I worked as a therapy assistant at Ability Therapies which was a fantastic way to further my knowledge of paediatric physiotherapy.
The determination of the children I work with, and their families truly inspire me every day. It’s fantastic to be part of such a fun welcoming environment where we get to explore the most fun and creative ways of working together to maximise their abilities.

From a young age I have always been inspired by those working in the health care sector and have been eager to work in a field where my work can positively impact people’s lives. Luckily, I have been given the amazing opportunity to work alongside the excellent physiotherapists at Ability Therapies where I am now developing a deeper understanding of physiotherapy techniques and methods to maximise each individual’s progress.

Throughout school I always had a strong interest for the human biology and directed majority of my revision and external research towards this. I cannot wait to learn many new skills which I can use to optimise each session and make it as helpful as possible. In the future I hope to become a qualified physiotherapist and continue to make a positive change to young children’s lives!

I have always taken an interest in working in paediatrics, so when the vacancy arose to be a physiotherapy assistant with the Ability Therapies team, I felt it was an opportunity not to be missed and am very pleased to be part of the Ability Therapies team.

In this role I hope to gain an understanding of paediatric physiotherapy and to develop skills and knowledge to support with treatment sessions, as well as creating professional relationships with the families and service users.

I am extremely lucky to be part of each child’s individual journey and experience the great care Ability Therapies has to offer! I love working with children and hope to make therapy enjoyable and beneficial.

Austin & his amazing twin Freddie were born 15 weeks early, resulting in Austin developing hydrocephalus & Spastic Diplegic cerebral palsy.

Having experienced the CP world first hand & not always having a positive experience, we wanted to ‘give something back’ by offering opportunities for children of all ages & abilities, to further progress & self- develop.

Amongst the daily CP hurdles, Austin has also endured 9 operations, including 5 brain surgeries under the expert care of the neurological team at Great Ormond Street Hospital, of which, Bradley is an ambassador.

More recently, in November 2018, Austin underwent ground breaking surgery Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR), at GOSH.

The post surgery rehabilitation for SDR is absolutely crucial, as is the need for regular physiotherapy input, into a CP warriors everyday life.

It has been our lifelong dream to offer the very best services & therapies to families, to help maximise each and every child’s ability and full potential.

We are very proud of the fact that our dream has now come true & that we are surrounded by the best therapists any parent could wish for.

As parents we’ve had many different experiences along our journey & our aim is to share these with you, to ensure our practice is the best it can be, to make your journey that little bit easier.
