Terms and Conditions

Please see below the terms and conditions on which Ability Therapies provide services (the “Services”). The exact Services recommended and provided to you will depend on the result of the initial assessment.

All practitioners working for Ability Therapies are qualified Physiotherapists and registered with the Health & Care Professionals Council, Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists.

Initial Assessment

Before services are provided an initial assessment of the client’s needs and requirements will be completed ('Initial Assessment'). An Initial Assessment takes up to 1.5 hours. An Initial Assessment consists of:

  • A discussion with the parent/guardian and client

  • A full subjective and objective assessment

  • An evaluation of the assessment

  • Developing a therapy plan for the client

Performance of the Services

Services will normally be provided after the Initial Assessment. If there is a significant period between Initial Assessment and services being provided then the client may be asked to either undergo another Initial Assessment or, the Parent/Guardian will be asked to confirm in writing that the information collected from the Initial Assessment remains the same.

Outcomes

When appropriate, outcome measures will be completed to record any change from therapy intervention. It is not possible for any particular result or outcome to be guaranteed as a result of services being provided. Our aim is to provide the Services using excellent care and skill. Some client’s conditions may take longer than others to treat and we will regularly reassess the treatment plan.

Your Rights and Responsibilities

During assessment/treatment, it may be relevant for the Physiotherapist to ask the client to remove some items of clothing. This will only be asked if appropriate and full clinical reasoning will be provided to the parent/guardian and client before requesting this.

Assignments / Home Exercise Programmes

We may set you assignments to be completed between therapy sessions. You are not obliged to complete these assignments; but if you do not complete them, your progress in achieving the desired outcomes may be slowed down.

Stopping a Session

We may stop a session at any time and not continue it if we consider that you are not following our reasonable instructions. If this happens, you will still be liable (at our discretion) to pay the fee for that session.

Payment and Cancellation

We accept payment by cash, cheque or bank transfer. Payment must be made within 30 days of the submission of our invoice, which will be sent out monthly.

If you are late arriving at a session, the session will begin on your arrival and continue until the time when it is scheduled to end. If you wish the session to overrun, and we agree, then you may be charged at our discretion for the extra time we spend in providing the Services.

Please see the rates which will be charged if a therapy session is cancelled or do not attend:

  • 50% at fullrate for less than 48 hours’ notice
  • 100% at fullrate for less than 24 hours’ notice

Be aware that insurance companies may not pay for fees if you have cancelled or not attended a therapy session. If the insurance company do not pay the fees, then you will be liable for such payment.

To rearrange or cancel an appointment, notice must be given via message or phone: 07444723074 or via email: hello@abilitytherapies.com a full 48 hours before the appointment is due to take place.

On occasion, we may have to cancel a scheduled session. This may occur, for example, if a staff member is sick or if a preceding session has overrun. If we have to cancel a scheduled session, we will book you another appointment at a mutually convenient time as soon as reasonably possible. No charge will be made to you for any sessions which may be cancelled by us.

Unpaid Therapy

If services are not paid for within 14 days of the submission of the invoice, then late payment fees will be included as additional to therapy costs (fee set £10 per day). We also have the right to suspend any future therapy services until the invoice is paid.

Confidentiality

To provide effective services information needs to be collected which may be confidential to yourself and the client. All personal and business information supplied by you will be stored and treated confidentially. We are committed to protecting the rights and privacy of you and your child/young person, and as such adhere to strict data protection guidelines which can be found in our Data Protection and Privacy Policy, this is available on request.

Traveling to home / school visit

Travel time to a home or school visit may vary due to unforeseen circumstances such as traffic. If your Physiotherapist is running late to the appointment time scheduled, necessary action will be taken to contact you as soon as safely possible to do so.

Variation

We may change any of these terms or conditions, including our fees, upon giving you reasonable notice.

In exceptional circumstances, such as illness or other commitments, inappropriate behaviour by you, refusal to be treated in a reasonable way, actual or potential conflict of interest, or other reasons, we may decide to terminate the Services early and or refuse to provide further sessions to you. In such circumstances, we shall give you reasonable notice of termination where practicable and will refund to you any advance payment made for sessions not yet provided subject to our cancellation terms set out above.
